Trauma Informed Representation and Why It Matters

When your life has been changed due to a personal injury, it can be hard to tell your story. Especially if you’ve been the victim of a highly traumatic incident such as a sexual assault or the death of a loved one.

Sometimes we have to ask personal questions that may be uncomfortable and we understand how that might make you feel. We always keep your wellbeing at the forefront of how we manage your case. That means we frequently remind you to take your time when you’re retelling your story. We ask if you are okay to keep going. We offer breaks. If you need to stop and revisit the conversation at another time, we’ll support you.

We often meet with our clients outside of the office and we can talk through these difficult things in a peaceful setting. Not many attorneys understand what it’s like to revisit your trauma like this, but we do.

If you’re scared to talk with an attorney out of fear, embarrassment, or shame, please know that you are safe with Francis Owen. When you’re ready, we’ll be here to help you through.
